From the 14th to the 17th of April 2026 the University of Palermo will host the International Conference “Cannizzaro 2026”, organized on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Stanislao Cannizzaro.

The chosen t heme, “Stanislao Cannizzaro: science, culture, and society between the nine teenth and early twentieth centuries”, aims to foster a broad and interdisc iplinary discussion on Cannizzaro’s work and on his role within the scienti fic, cultural, and institutional context of his time.

The conference will bring together researchers active in the fields of the history of chem istry, epistemological foundations, science education, and cultural and pol itical history.
