SUMMARY:Call for abstracts - convegno Environment/Environments. Trajectories of a Concept, Napoli 24-25 Ottobre 2024
LOCATION:Napoli
DESCRIPTION:Environment/environments. Trajectories of a concept\nSymposium in Naples, O
 ctober 24-25, 2024\nCall for Abstracts\nDeadline for Submission: March 15,
2024\nThe aim of the symposium is to reconstitute the plural history of the
notion of environment by means of historically, philosophically, and polit
ically significant case studies that may represent some turning points in t
he scientific enrichment of this notion (as for instance the biotic charact
erization of the environment by Darwin enriched the mainly abiotic one by L
amarck, or the integration of sociological aspects has enriched the study o
f ecosystems, or the incorporation of climate has enriched the notion of gl
obal environment), or which may highlight how the discovery of particular e
nvironments has helped the advancement of environmental sciences. \nThe sym
posium will focus on two sets of issues, which are of particular significan
ce for the current crisis:\n\n - Changes in the representation of the relat
ionship between development, evolution and health of organisms and their en
vironment;\n - The role of past environments in modelling the present state
of the environment and predicting its future statesDeadline for Submission
 : March 15, 2024\nPlease submit a 750-word abstract (essential bibliographi
cal references excluded) prepared for anonymous review as a Word Document o
